We want to start off the second quarter with some fun and celebration of school
spirit. The week of October 25th will be Spirit Week, ending with our traditional
Character Day. Join in on the fun! Here is the daily schedule of events:
Monday: Hat Day! Let’s take our hats off to a good book! It’s also Reading Rocks
Day at Lock 3 for all of the learners who meet or exceeded the summer reading goals.
Tuesday: Green and Orange Day. Wear your green and orange for school
spirit. Watch Coach Weaver get slimed at our morning meeting.
She had the most pennies in her bucket for the book fair
fundraiser and the NIHF STEM Slime Team has designed a
contraption and the perfect NIHF STEM Green Slime for this event.
Wednesday: Tie-Dye or Neon Day. Wear your Tie Dye, Neon, or both for this
bright and colorful day.
Thursday: Pink Day for Making Strides. Learners may show their support
for this cause by wearing pink. In addition, learners will receive a
pink bracelet for a donation of $1.00 and may get their name on
a placard that will be hung in the cafeteria for an additional
$1.00. The advisory that raises the most money will get to be the
first ones dismissed from the ‘morning meeting’ every day of the
following week. Thank you for helping us support this worthy cause!
Friday: This is our annual Book Character/Superhero Day tradition
which we are very excited to continue. Learners are permitted to
dress up as one of their favorite book characters or their favorite
Superhero on this day. Wear your most creative book character
or superhero costume following the costume guidelines below.
Each grade level will choose the top three most creative
costumes and prizes will be awarded. Fun activities are also
being planned by grade level for the afternoon on each floor. The
winners of the Scary Story Writing Contest will be announced today!
