Harvesting Lettuce from Our Tower GardenA team of 6th-grade learners has germinated and cultivated a garden to share with our school and visitors. The Tower Garden unit is located in our Learning Commons library where students monitor water levels, pH levels, and mineral additives to produce a healthy crop and encourage healthy eating. This year, our team has produced a successful crop of gourmet lettuce which they have shared with a visiting National Hall of Fame inventor, Dr. Marshall, as well as our faculty. This past week, our fifth-grade learners were invited to taste the lettuce as we harvested. Our Tower Garden Growers received unanimous five-star reviews!

Our tomatoes and peppers are growing quickly and we are looking forward to the process of pollinating these plants to add additional fresh fruits and vegetables to our palette. Visit our Learning Commons Twitter @stem_lc to check our progress and see the additional STEM events in this unique space.
