A Visit With Shaesta Waiz

Shaesta Visits STEM Middle School Digital Fabrication Lab

On August 29th, we had the honor of hosting Shaesta Waiz for an all-school assembly. Ms. Waiz is the youngest female to fly around the world in a single-engine airplane. Our community partner, Goodyear, brought her to us to speak about her experiences and to inspire our learners to find their passion and strive to reach their goals. In addition to the assembly, Ms. Waiz also was taken on a tour by our ambassadors and was shown how we use our Digital Fabrication Lab. Also, in attendance were officials from Goodyear, Ms. Waiz's family and three blimp pilots, including Taylor Deen, the only female blimp pilot in the world! On August 30th, 25 learners were invited to attend a ceremony for the Wingfoot Three blimp where Ms. Waiz did the honors of christening the airship! These two days were truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!
