Seventh-grader Aiden McClaine is a learner at NIHF-STEM Middle School. The Akron Board of Education invited him to deliver the Pledge of Allegiance to begin their first meeting of the new year on January 14, 2019. This event was significant for Aiden and his family since he had also led the pledge on the first day that his father, Mr. Patrick Bravo, was sworn in as president of the Board in 2017. January 14 was the final day of Bravo’s two-year presidency. Bravo has been a devoted member of the Board since 2012. Aiden remained in the meeting to see the board nomination and swearing-in of the new president, Rev. Dr. Curtis T. Walker Sr. Aiden stated that he felt proud to support his dad and the incoming president.
