Barnes & Noble STEM Showcase

Our STEM family welcomed incoming 5th graders as well as the community to our NIHF-STEM Showcase on March 9, 2019. Learners and their families enjoyed a variety of science, technology, engineering, art, math, music, and Chinese World Language experiences all presented by our STEM students. Chinese dance kicked-off the event followed by over sixty recitals in the music department. Circuity, an iPad art genius bar, robotics competitions, and a traveling science fair exhibit of a mechanical hand with fabric sensors were new favorites this year. Rounding off the technology field, the school mascot, STEMMY shared some jazzy dance moves and recited the learner’s pledge. Harry Potter literature magically transported us on the Hogwarts Express with a timed lego building of the train on platform 9 ¾ while the Harry Potter Coding Wand cast spells to transfigure owls and made chocolate frog appear as they traveled through the parchment map. Smiling faces filled the store Barnes & Noble Cafe served the famous STEM Stuffed Pretzel and Double Dare Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. We can’t wait for next year’s event!
