Eighth Grade March to College

Eight Grade STEM Learners Visit the University of AkronOn November 2nd, our entire 8th-grade class 'marched' to college! The University of Akron, one of our founding partners, invited these learners to experience higher education. While some may think that 8th grade is too soon to think about college, we disagree! Many of our 8th graders are not only thinking about college, they are also preparing for it. During this experience, the learners were taken on a comprehensive tour of campus led by a current UA student. They saw a classroom, the field house, student union, and a library. They also listened to a typical admission presentation that incoming college freshmen hear. The learners were guests for lunch in Rob's Cafe' on campus. Overall, it was a great overview of campus life and a detailed description of what to expect in college. A huge 'thanks' to The University of Akron for hosting and Coach Rodgers for organizing this experience for our 8th graders!
