8th Graders Visit Washington DCEach school year, our learners, in conjunction with government study, take a trip to our nation's capital. This experience leaves a lasting impression on each and every learner. This is what one learner shared:

Over the three days of March 20-22nd, my 8th-grade class and I visited Washington D.C. While in D.C., we visited many different museums, memorials, and important landmarks. One of my personal favorites was the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This museum was very interesting to me, as it went through the history of African Americans all the way from slavery, to Oprah. This museum also showcased African American music, art, and even dance. Another exciting part for me was the many memorials we visited. We visited the Lincoln Memorial, Korean and Vietnam Veteran War Memorial, the Albert Einstein Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and the Washington Monument. The Vietnam Veteran War memorial stood out to me the most, by how it had a wall that showcased every name of the soldiers that died during that war.
