Doug Weaver, a Principal Engineer at
Goodyear, is mentoring a 3D printing leadership team of 6th graders at
the STEM school. He stopped in to meet the team in their Digital Fabrication
Lab and share some of the printing items he has designed at Goodyear. The
learners have been given the challenge to print a sundial that reads time
digitally. On their way to this challenge, learners are using TinkerCad to
understand 3D design and helping other learners with project design. They are
using Inventor II and Makergear printers, to assist a group of social studies
learners currently working with the team’s help to design pieces for a game
board of Ancient Greece. Learners in the school come to the Digital
Fabrication Lab for extended exploratory projects in which they design their
own experience. It’s inspiring to have student leadership to enhance our
learning. Stay tuned for upcoming 3D printing features as well as the creation
of the digital sundial!
