Welcoming Grade 5 Families at NIHF STEMOn Thursday, March 21st, NIHF-STEM welcomed the incoming 2019-2020 5th-grade class during an orientation of STEM learning. Learners and their families were welcomed into the NIHF STEM family by Instructional Leader Amanda Morgan and Dean of Students, JuWan Lane. As a STEM school with arts education, learners of the STEM school, along with the music learning coaches demonstrated musical instruments that learners will be able to consider for next year. In partnership with the Akron Summit County Public Library, Learning Coach Susan Hall presented the learners with a summer reading tote bag from the Akron Library. NIHF-STEM learners in all grade levels will be participating in the Akron Public Library summer reading and wellness program that promotes both reading and exercise during summer months. This reading program provides prizes and rewards along the way. The T-shirt learners receive as a result of completing the program will be their ticket to the first social event of the new school year. The Reading Rocks event will be the highlight of the school year as we celebrate reading at Lock 3 in Downtown Akron.
