Goodyear Collaborates With STEM Learners

Goodyear engineers and communications personnel worked with sixth grade NIHF STEM learners to redesign the Ozobot Tournament track for the upcoming 5th grade Ozobot Tournament. Seven sixth graders who participated in last year’s Goodyear Ozobot Tournament came together to analyze the track and design a learning experience for Goodyear to explain principles of color coding and track design. Using a backwards design process, challenge points in the track were identified by students which they put into an inquiry lesson designed to lead Goodyear track designers to the improvements needed to upgrade the track for this year’s competition. Following the learning experience, learners and Goodyear partners gathered around the tournament track to talk through the challenges they had with the track last year. We are very fortunate to partner with Goodyear to design this experience for our learners. We are also very excited to implement Goodyear’s suggestion to have our experienced sixth grade team coach our new fifth grade team. Working with our community partners provides a rich learning experience for our school.
