In partnership with Global Ties Akron, our school presented a strong STEM experience for girls at NIHFSTEM. Our international visitors were STEM-focused women from six different countries including Bahrain, Portugal, India, Costa Rica, Greenland, and Jordan. They were interested in discovering our programming both past and present with girls in STEM education. School partnerships were very important to them and were a highlight in learner presentations. Samantha Fondriest, from the Akron Summit County Public Library’s Girls Who Code after school programming partnered with our school library, Girls Who Code presented Raspberry Pi coding with light strips. Female learners who participated in the Goodyear Ozobot Tournament presented their learning experience which culminated with the Ozobot robot track. Goodyear collaborates with the school to understand and elevate our learning experience. Our partnership with the Akron Zoo was featured in a presented prototype design used in a competition to create an animal enrichment habitat installation at the zoo. An Independent product sponsor for pressure-sensitive material was also featured in an award-winning science fair project. We are very proud of our girls in STEM and look forward to sharing their exceptional experiences throughout the year.
