On December 8th, two groups of 8th graders from Coach Liang’s Chinese class performed at the Cleveland State University Art Performance! The two groups have been preparing a fan dance and an umbrella dance for the past year and a half specifically for this performance and Chinese New Year at STEM, so this event was particularly special for the students. A variety of other students from schools throughout Ohio and dancers from performing arts groups also presented their work at this competition, with C-pop related dances, more traditional dances, and multiple musical performances. The two groups from STEM each got a chance to perform their respective dances in front of a set of judges and were returned to the back room following the performance where they watched clips of their performance filmed by Coach Liang. Results from the competition will be back in approximately 2 weeks, so good luck to all the performers and Coach Liang!
The results of the competition are in. Both of our dance groups were in the top 22 performances. Our learners will be receiving recognition at CSU and are invited to the final competition. We are so proud of our learners and their learning coach, Qing Liang!
