USPTO Visits NIHF-STEM
Posted on 10/11/2019
Learner’s Digital Fabrication productions, Invention Incubator prototype designs, and Arduino coding were learning highlights shared with visitors from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington D.C.and the National Inventors Hall of Fame on October 2nd. This exceptional experience provided through The National Inventors Hall of Fame organization gave our students the opportunity for  personal interactions with USPTO participants. Learners shared virtual reality design skills and invited our guests to try out VR design. An interactive voice commanded robot entertained our guests with Kung Fu demonstrations and Tango dancing. Color coding robotic track tournament experiences exhibited our partnership with Goodyear and our student’s strategic critical thinking when coding with several of Goodyear’s simulated track conditions. Classroom math content was explored in the Invention Incubator as learners described how they learned about fractions while engineering arcade games with cardboard construction. Science prototype designing was evidenced in learner’s work with the Akron Zoo to provide animal enrichment solutions for a variety of habitats. Green screen interviews our learners facilitated with USPTO guests helped us understand more about patents and patent careers. We always enjoy sharing our learning with others and look forward to upcoming visits.
