Virtual Museum Visit

In a Skype session with Dr. Christian McWirther from the President Lincoln Library and Museum in Springfield Illinois, our learners had the opportunity to explore questions related to their nonfiction reading of the paired novels Lincoln the Inventor, by Jason Emerson and Lincoln’s Grave Robbers by Steve Sheinkin. Dr. Christian McWhirter, historian for the museum, shared a model of Abraham Lincoln’s patent prototype and described the functioning as well as the engineering review. Learners were wide eyed with the introduction of actual tools and the broken lock from the grave robbing attempt in 1876. We are grateful to the museum for bringing our book, Lincoln’s Grave Robbers to life!
