Welcome to the first edition of NIHF-ty News from our learner and learning coach team. Our goal is to share the events and reflections of our STEM families. This week we would like to thank Will, Kaxten, Maddi, Andrew, Ja’Quan, Robert, Mari’Juana, Coach Butler, and Coach Weaver as we take a look back at the first five days of school and look forward to the opportunities in our future.
Learners in our incoming fifth grade class are excited about coming to school each day. The learners expressed that their highlight is the new schedules and extra support time they now receive for doing their work. Learning coaches also enthusiastically shared support time being a big success. Coach Weaver reported that her fifth graders are already comfortable sharing virtual presentations to the class exhibiting their creativity through inventions they are designing to capture the spirit of invention at STEM.
NIHF-STEM has a new program option this year called STEMmersion. This virtual synchronous and asynchronous daily program offers a different topic category and activity daily. Here are this month’s daily weekly topics:
Monday- Merge Madness
Tuesday- Story Sharing
Wednesday- Book Bits & Bites
Thursday- NIHF-ty News
Friday-Invention Inc.
Our learners are especially excited about the XP (experience points) they are earning from the Virtual Store and want everyone to know that they can now redeem XP!
Art online was another learner favorite for grade 6 with creative Flipgrid activity for learners to introduce themselves to Coach Butler. After school activities in art are starting in October with the NIHF-STEM favorite month of art called Inktober! Look for an upcoming article from Coach Butler in her Google Classroom and on our STEM news site!
In just this first week of school, our learners have already made amazing progress and had fun learning!
