We are NIHF-STEM proud of science learning coach Chris Justice who received the Thomas Edison Governor’s award for the 13th year! Each year, The Ohio Academy of Science awards the The Governor’s Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence which is sponsored by the Ohio Department Services Agency to students and teachers who go above and beyond in STEM education.

Schools and Teachers who stimulate student originated, inquiry based science education, technological design, and extend STEM education beyond traditional classroom activities are also recognized each year. The judging criteria for teachers and schools include a local science fair with 12 or more students and have two or more of these students participate in one of the Academy’s 17 district science days. The teacher must also have students participating in at least one more your science opportunity beyond the classroom. At NIHF-STEM we have an abundance of opportunities that go beyond the classroom including an Ozobot Robotics Coding Tournament which was recently recognized by the Ohio Department of Education and shared in a statewide presentation for computer science. Thank you Coach Justiss for your leadership and dedication to excellence in science education!
