Fifth Grade Learners Explore Our Ecosystem
Fifth Grade Learners Explore Our EcosystemOn October 27th our fifth graders visited the Bath Nature Preserve. This area is home to The University of Akron Biology Department's Field Station. This is where college students do research on things like pollinators and birds. There are several wetlands and grasslands to observe as well. As part of our science curriculum, fifth graders study ecosystems and learn how scientists use observation skills in the field. Our learners explored a wetland (in muck boots!), learned about biomimicry, used microscopes to investigate nature up close, took a nature hike, played a macroinvertebrate game and discussed why wetlands are important to our community. All in all, it was a great learning day!
